I recently updated some dating app profiles (tinder / bumble / hinge) with photos and vids of me at a gun range, shooting targets, and ALL of them removed those uploads as they violated their terms of service for "depicting acts of violence". Just bull***** if you ask me.

2020.08.30 03:21 socialjeebus r/fuckepic for Dummies - 2020 Edition

Table of Contents
First things first, a big thanks goes to u/HappySphynx for their excellent original, however, so much water has passed under the bridge since the original fuckepic for dummies that the mods felt it was time for a refresh. I will be leaning heavily on their original to the extent that this should really just be seen as a refresh.
For posterity, the original post can be seen here:
https://www.reddit.com/fuckepic/comments/bs4kh6/rfuckepic_for_dummies_a_quick_breakdown/
Second, this list is by no means exhaustive and it also will be updated periodically.
Third, I’ll try to be as succinct as possible – so if something isn’t clearly explained in the post feel free to reach out for clarification if the supporting link isn’t clear enough.
LISTS OF EPIC EXCLUSIVES
u/missing_string compiled the following list, which is fairly up-to-date and a good starting point:
https://www.reddit.com/fuckepic/comments/bzhnu7/breakdown_of_egs_exclusives/
Another good, and frequently updated list, can be found here:
https://www.gamewatcher.com/news/Epic-games-store-exclusives
Lastly, for the introduction anyway, this is a post about Epic Games, it’s not about any other company except where it directly pertains to Epic Games. Just because people here criticise the conduct of Epic Games doesn’t mean they’re absolving any other company of similarly bad conduct.
And now with those necessities out of the way, why FUCKEPIC?
1. Mistreating its employees:
Epic is gOoD for devs, right? Well, the thing is that Epic isn't even good for its own devs.
“In a dozen interviews conducted by Polygon over a period of several months, current and former employees say they regularly worked in excess of 70-hour weeks, with some reporting 100-hour weeks. Contract staff in Epic’s quality assurance and customer service departments spoke of a stressful and hostile working environment in which working overtime — while officially voluntary — was an expected service to the company.”
https://www.polygon.com/2019/4/23/18507750/fortnite-work-crunch-epic-games
Props to Terg500 for the link.
2. Exploiting Children:
Of course, we all know by now about the variety of suits against Fortnite the game. But more sinister, imo, has been the gaslighting of children for Epic’s #freefortnite PR campaign against Apple.

https://www.vertoanalytics.com/chart-week-deep-dive-fortnite/

53% of Fortnite players are aged between 10-25.
https://1z1euk35x7oy36s8we4dr6lo-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Fornite-players-profile.png
3. Fortnite:
Epic’s rise to prominence coincided with the success of their derivative microtransaction laden Fortnite:
https://www.koreatimes.co.kwww/tech/2018/05/134_249598.html
https://dotesports.com/pubg/news/pubg-fortnite-lawsuit-ends-25291
https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbake2018/06/05/what-we-know-and-what-we-dont-about-pubgs-legal-fight-with-fortnite-in-korea/
4. How Epic operates:
Epic Games is so poorly run that it struggles to pay its own prize winners on-time:
https://wccftech.com/epic-games-allegedly-not-paying-fortnite-prize-money/
https://www.dexerto.com/fortnite/epic-games-accused-not-paying-187-000-aud-tournament-prize-money-582320
5. The Epic Store & Launcher:
The store has become a running joke, particularly the lack of a shopping cart. And when the EGS launched, clearly the criticisms of how featureless the store and launcher were that Epic Games created a trello for their development roadmap. Within months, however, it became clear that adding timeframes for features to be developed and consistently missing them wasn’t a great idea (who’d have thunk it, right?) so Epic probably dropped ALL the timeframes – though, luckily for fuckepic, we can still see the original timeframes.
https://trello.com/b/GXLc34hk/epic-games-store-roadmap
Also of note, is that of the features listed as being shipped, some clearly weren’t working as intended. Take pre-loading, for example – which became an issue when Epic snagged its biggest exclusive to date, Borderlands 3.
According to Epic, pre-loading was released in May 2019. However, 4 months later, Tim Sweeney himself was thanking Randy Pitchford’s Gearbox for their extraordinary development push to enable this:
https://twitter.com/timsweeneyepic/status/1168982201100378112?lang=en
Subsequent big releases, like Death Stranding, have not supported pre-loading on Epic (but it did on Steam), but perhaps the demand was so low on the EGS that Kojima Productions didn’t think it was worth the effort.
And as for the shopping cart, well I’ll just leave this here:
https://trello.com/c/SHhkQphp
The problem that I, personally, have with the Epic’s store and launcher is that it almost guarantees a demonstrably worse product in comparison to other platforms.
Mod support has just been released, however, the feature is only in beta and so far, afaik, only MechWarrior 5 actually has mods:
https://twitter.com/EpicGames/status/1288932894816325644
A really good summary on the progress, or lack thereof, of the launcher can be found here:
https://www.reddit.com/fuckepic/comments/e8cj6o/on_the_one_year_anniversary_of_egs_lets_look_back/
Credit to u/AokiMarikoGensho for such a comprehensive list.
6. Third-party Exclusives
Okay, this probably should have come higher up the list given that it has been given arguably the most attention – but I’m just following the original.
Epic’s money-hatting has been discussed at length both here and elsewhere. You will hear shills, some even on this subreddit, arguing that exclusives are good for competition, etc – though admittedly you’ll rarely see them be able to explain why. u/HappySphynx linked to a post with a good explanation of why it’s bad for consumers, so I’ll leave it here.
https://www.reddit.com/pcgaming/comments/bhv2wthe_netflix_problem_a_great_explanation_for_those/elyk27a/?context=3
The ex-exclusive issue is one which is coming to the forefront right now as many of the bigger exclusives from last year see their time in self-inflicted purgatory coming to an end.
Control, one of the higher-profile exclusives, has just launched on Steam with a timed-exclusive Ultimate Edition at a 20% discount making is much cheaper than the basic game on the Epic Store. The Ultimate Edition is scheduled to launch on other platforms, including Epic, in mid-September – price as yet unannounced.
https://controlgame.com/
Also, the store itself screams of its complete disinterest in customers. No customer reviews – in fact, there is no customer interaction at all. And not only that but a cursory glance at many of the store pages demonstrates the near-complete lack of interest the developers and publishers themselves have in the store, with very basic information such as whether a game is single-player or multiplayer missing. Take a look at the store pages for Anno 1800 (an Epic exclusive that was also sold on Steam prior to its release and Epic snatching it away):
https://store.steampowered.com/app/916440/Anno_1800/
https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/anno-1800/home
u/Senatedude14 produced the following updated breakdown of Epic's exclusives:
https://www.reddit.com/fuckepic/comments/ipyf4d/breakdown_of_egs_exclusives_updated/
7. ePiC gAmEs iS gOoD fOr DeVs
If you’re a caring, sharing type, with bizarre priorities and a warped sense of the world around you, your heart might bleed for game developers and them alone.
This indeed has been an oft-cited argument that Epic’s money-hat and bigger cut of a smaller pie is good for devs because it means more money for them, except when it demonstrably doesn’t:
https://kotaku.com/sources-despite-huge-sales-borderlands-3-developers-a-1842617645
This despite it selling really well on Epic:
https://playtracker.net/insight/posts/top-sellers-epic-store-2019
So even Epic’s biggest exclusive to date didn’t lead to more money for devs. And it gets worse if what you want is to sell your creation as you wish, as Tim Sweeney himself argues you should be able to:
“it’s up to the creator of a thing to decide whether and how to sell their creation.”
https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1273101468875329537
Except that a dev definitely can’t do that on the Epic Store, as Darq’s developer found out when he told Epic he wanted to launch on Epic & Steam simultaneously:
https://medium.com/@unfoldgames/why-i-turned-down-exclusivity-deal-from-the-epic-store-developer-of-darq-7ee834ed0ac7
Then we come to the Fall Guys issue, an issue I just invented but a valid one nonetheless. Fall Guys has just passed the 7 million sales on Steam mark.
https://twitter.com/devolverdigital/status/1298629267811704833
In less than 4 weeks on Steam, Fall Guys sold more than the top 7 games on the Epic Store sold in 2019 combined.
This is also ignoring the vast difference in the options for devs to sell Steam keys for their games when compared to Epic keys.
A recent example of devs vs publishers is the case of Frogwares vs Nacon/Big Ben regarding the former Epic-exclusive The Sinking City:
https://www.reddit.com/fuckepic/comments/ilfpvx/8812_is_so_good_for_the_developer_that_frogwares/g3t932t/?context=3
8. Epic Security (lol)
There has been a slew of high-profile Epic fails when it comes to Epic Games and security.
https://www.theguardian.com/games/2018/aug/10/fortnite-on-android-phones-risk-malware-infections
https://segmentnext.com/2019/04/03/epic-store-account-gets-hacked-loses-thousands-of-euros/

https://www.reddit.com/fuckepic/comments/brfexm/they_literately_sent_my_personal_info_to_a_random/
9. Undermining Crowdfunding, Epically
This is, of course, a continuation of the Exclusives part but Epic’s shitty behaviour has undermined the confidence in crowdfunding by snatching games, which had advertised Steam releases as part of their crowdfunding campaigns.
https://www.reddit.com/pcgaming/comments/bnpw0crowdfunded_game_outer_wilds_becomes_epic/

https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/10/18660126/shenmue-3-epic-games-store-exclusive-backers-angry-steam-key-refund-request-e3-2019
10. Linux
Tim Sweeney on Linux:
“Installing Linux is sort of the equivalent of moving to Canada when one doesn’t like US political trends. Nope, we’ve got to fight for the freedoms we have today, where we have them today.”
https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/964284402741149698
There is still no official support for Linux on Epic.
11. Tencent:
Epic is 40% owned by Tencent, a company hip-deep in oppressing minorities in China. Of course, we don’t know/have the inside scoop on how Tencent asserts itself in its relationship with Epic as its biggest external stakeholder, but the investment itself is concerning.
https://freedomhouse.org/article/worried-about-huawei-take-closer-look-tencent

https://qz.com/1719581/technology-liberated-chinas-uighur-minority-and-then-trapped-them/
12. Epic & Lawsuits:
Whether it’s 14-year-old kids making Youtube videos or trillion-dollar companies trying to protect themselves from Epic’s rule-breaking, Timmeh loves lawsuits – fortunately for us though, he doesn’t love his lawyers enough to shut up though.
https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20191008/08591443147/epic-games-settles-with-cheating-minor-to-end-lawsuit.shtml

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ag-gBBeQnc (Epic v Apple latest vid)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qVsZXajXuQ (Epic v Google)
13. Timmeh:
Timmeh, the controlling shareholder in Epic Games, is an undoubtedly talented man. However, he is also a liar, a hypocrite, creepy, and weird.
He calls out Apple, and even Google, for operating their platforms in a similar way to Epic investor, Sony – whose behaviour he justified with the false claim that Sony sold consoles at or below manufacturing costs:
https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1273276548569841667
But, of course, that simply isn't true.
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2020-02-14-expensive-components-drive-ps5-production-costs-to-usd450-each
He compares Apple’s walled garden, but not Epic investor, Sony’s, to the Ford Motor Company charging you to drive to certain cities or towns:
https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1297679133544243205
He also contradicts himself, when it suits his argument:
“Android is an open platform.”
https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1033225118405804032
When suing Google, however:
“Google’s actions force app developers and consumers into Google’s own monopolized “app store”
https://www.theverge.com/2020/8/13/21368363/epic-google-fortnite-lawsuit-antitrust-app-play-store-apple-removal
For more like this, just choose the Tim Sweeney flair on the front page of the subreddit.
Bonus, some more from Timmeh:
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/782978066674182923/8D5D7EBC0EED03D1A21961517D29B44291863594/
14. Epic Greed:
One issue raised by Epic, repeatedly, is ubiquitous 30% cut taken by other stores. Timmeh has used this as a stick to beat his rivals, to justify his money-hats, and as part of his lawsuits against both Google and Apple.
As part of his publicity stunt before intentionally getting Fortnite kicked out of both the Play Store and the App Store, Epic decided that when enabling its own in-app purchases on both platforms that instead of the usual 30% oppressive tax charged on both platforms and by Epic investor, Sony, that Epic would drop the prices of v-bucks on the Android and iOS by 20%.
The 20% figure was intriguing to say the least. Of the extra 10% that Epic would be making on each purchase not going through Apple or Google, by Epic’s own acknowledgment, an average of 3% would be going towards payment processing fees – so where was the extra 7% going? Hmmmmmm……
https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/epic-games-fortnite-v-bucks-cut/
15. Epic Customer Service:
Now Timmeh himself is on the record as dismissing the importance of customers:
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2019-03-11-tim-sweeney-storefront-battle-will-be-won-with-developer-support
"[The storefront model is] nearly perfect for consumers already...There is no hope of displacing a dominant storefront solely by adding marginally more store features or a marginally better install experience. These battles will be won on the basis of game supply, consumer prices, and developer revenue sharing."
With that in mind, it’ll come as no surprise that Epic has a litany of customer service complaints against it.
From the afore mentioned security issues, to the afore mentioned lack of really basic features like a shopping cart, and on to a myriad of other issues.
Particular highlights include -

16. Epic abandoned PC Gaming:
Last, but certainly not least, Timmeh has already abandoned PC gaming before – when it didn’t make enough money for him and rather than, as many businesses would, try to make better products, he simply blamed ‘piracy.’
It is only after other companies have spent billions of dollars producing services and games that people actually want, that Timmeh comes crawling back with the Fortnite loot earned from kids to give PC gaming a second chance – lucky us, hey?

So, there you have it – the 2020 Edition of fuckepic for Dummies. Like I said at the beginning this list is not exhaustive and I’ve tried to keep it as brief as possible. Any constructive criticisms and suggestions (keeping in mind the nature of the subreddit) are welcomed, so feel free to drop me a PM or leave a comment here.

2020.08.29 07:09 OptimalYogurt I've tried EVERYTHING. This DARN Nintendo Switch Pro Controller won't connect to PC!

Hello! After plundering the darkest depths of the internet I feel as though I have tried every common (and some not so common) fixes to my Nintendo Switch Pro controller's connection problem. PLEASE HELP, I really don't want to spend money on a Xbox controller.

The Problem:

The Nintendo Switch pro controller is not being recognized by my computer, I do not get a connection sound nor a notification that a USB device has been plugged in. My computer does not have a Bluetooth card in it, so wired is the only option I have. HOWEVER, the controller does have a orange light illuminating, indicating that it is being charged.

Solutions Tried

Note: if you think my execution of these solutions is incorrect, let me know. I for sure could have messed up some steps.
Super long post. I appreciate anyone who takes their time to help or even read this post.

2020.08.24 22:50 noentic Unusual Option Activity for Aug-24-2020 - LB, ANGI, SHLL (C), PYPL (C)

Full post available at www.noeticoptions.com
Context -
The S&P 500 (+1.0%) and Nasdaq Composite (+0.6%) rose to new record highs. The gains were prompted by news the FDA approved emergency use authorization for convalescent plasma in hospitalized COVID-19 patients. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.4%, and the Russell 2000 gained 1.0%.
Cyclical stocks outperformed, as they typically do when there is any positive-sounding coronavirus update. The S&P 500 energy (+2.8%), financials (+2.3%), were the best performers.
The health care sector (-0.5%) was the only S&P 500 sector that closed lower today.
Many of the mega-cap stocks started the day rallying to fresh all-time highs, but a lack of follow-through buying interest in these names tamed the bulls and briefly took the tech-sensitive Nasdaq into negative territory. Investors bought the intraday dip, although these stocks (and the Nasdaq) closed well off session highs.
Apple (AAPL 503.43, +5.95, +1.2%), for example, was up as much as 3.6% but ended the day higher by 1.2%. Nevertheless, it was still a good day for Apple after Morgan Stanley raised its price target to a Street-high $520 from $431. Today was also the record date for the company's 4:1 stock split.
In the energy space, many oil producers temporarily closed oil refineries in the U.S. Golf Coast in anticipation of two tropical storms. One of the storms is expected to reach landfall as a hurricane.
WTI crude futures increased 0.7%, or $0.30, to $42.61/bbl. The U.S. Dollar Index increased 0.1% to 93.30.
There was no significant economic news today. Investors will receive New Home Sales for July, the Consumer Confidence Index for August, the FHFA Housing Price Index for August, and the S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index for June on Tuesday.

My Impression :
The momentum today is likely a combination of both the upgrade as well as retail performing well in light of the new approved treatment for CoVID-19 in expectations that retail consumption will return to normal. The SEP 04 33C has a ton of volume. I’ll see where this one opens tomorrow and it’s worth investing. I’ll pay particular attention to the OI to see how much of the volume stays. Otherwise, the C/P Ratio, Multiple of ADV, and Calls at Ask % looks quite bullish.

My Impression :
I am not very familiar with this stock. The housing data recently has been extremely bullish. At face value the C/P ratio, Call at Ask %, and Multiple of ADV appears bullish. I wish the Notable Strikes were slightly further OTM, however. I’d have to do more research to see if this is a stock I’d like to invest in.

No news for today. This stock was expected to announce the merger date last week, so naturally it is now expected to be early this week. Tortoise Acquisition Group recently filed for a new SPAC today. This indicates that the merger is likely a done deal. This was a featured trade on July 1st. I still have a large share position as well as having sold the puts. Today was a good day.

2020-08-24 07 - Visa just invested in a fintech that wants to eliminate checkout hardware, and it's a peek into the future of how we'll pay for things
Visa is investing in MagicCube, a payments-security fintech focused on enabling devices like smartphones to accept payments. In lieu of buying checkout hardware, merchants could use devices like smartphones to accept payments in the future. MagicCube built the card industry-backed security needed for widespread adoption. Earlier this year, Apple acquired Mobeewave, another fintech that turns smartphones into payment terminals. MagicCube has raised over $12 million to date from investors including Bold Capital, Epic Ventures, and the Sony Innovation Fund. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. The race toward hardware-less payments is on, and Visa is investing in MagicCube, a startup that helps turn devices like smartphones and cars into a way to handle transactions. Inside any point-of-sale device — be it a sleek Square terminal, traditional Verifone keypad, and even a kiosk at a movie theater — there are expensive and bulky security measures built into the hardware. From various security chips and even a gold-mesh layer under the keypad to prevent tampering, there are limitations to the actual hardware required to process payments. "The device that you dip or swipe your card in the supermarket, like an Ingenico or a Verifone device, is a complex, 'Mission Impossible' device," Sam Shawki, co-founder and CEO of MagicCube told Business Insider.

2020.08.22 20:02 Chevsapher University Library services this semester

Since so many of us are frequent users of the University of Illinois Libraries (u/UIllinoisLibrary), I thought it might be helpful to make a post to help keep everyone informed about library services this semester. Please note that I do NOT represent the University Library. I am only posting because my role at the university forces me to stay current on library policies procedures.
I would highly recommend that everyone read up on the library's COVID-19 Response page, which includes up-to-date information about services and procedures for the fall semester. Most of the information is this post is expanded upon in the page's FAQ section.
Building access User access to all library spaces is limited almost entirely to appointments and item pickups (see below) at the Main Library, Grainger, and/or the Undergraduate Library. Even in these cases, you will need to present your "Approved" status on the Safer Illinois app (or your COVID-19 boarding pass) before entering. All the other libraries are physically closed; however, their respective staff members are still working to provide library services and support research, teaching, and learning.
Research help and appointments If you need research help or have questions about the library, the easiest and faster way to get answers is through the "Ask Us" chatbox on the Library homepage. During business hours, the chatbox is monitored by a rotating selection of library faculty, staff, and grad students, all of whom are more than happy to help you. I have had nothing bust positive experiences through chat, and I would highly recommend it.
Some other options are to email the library at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or to send a text message to (217) 686-4361. If you would like to speak directly to a librarian, you can find what librarians are responsible for which subject areas on the Subject Specialists page.
Books The University Library is adhering to an electronic-first strategy, meaning that all materials should be accessed in electronic formats if at all possible. In addition to regular ebooks, some books are accessible through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (guide). Items in the physical collection that are accessible through HathiTrust are not being loaned out; they can only be accessed through HathiTrust. The library is also working to fulfill item requests through electronic purchases or local digitized on demand.
To learn how to request an item, see the Requesting guide. If requests cannot be fulfilled digitally, the Libraries will work with you to hold the item for pickup from coordinated lockers in the east entry gallery of the Main Library or via dockside pickup at Grainger Engineering Library.
Study space The Libraries are not currently open for study space. However, plans are underway to potentially open Grainger and the Undergraduate Library for reservation-only individual study sessions starting September 14. In the meantime, the university recently announced it is opening up some classrooms across campus for study space this semester.
Loanable technology and media production spaces According to its website, the Undergraduate Library is still offering its loanable technology items, and the audio and video booths are available via reservation.
Articles and other database content Online access to articles and other database content will continue as always, but sometimes, you might inadvertently run into paywalls when trying to access these materials off-campus. Best practice is to search for content via the library catalog or EasySearch, NOT directly through the publisher or the journals' websites. Furthermore, I would highly recommend that you turn on VPN and set it to "Tunnel All."
The University of Illinois offers access to a huge number of journals and databases, and most articles not offered by the library can be requested via Interlibrary Loan. As students, you should NEVER need pay out-of-pocket to access scholarly articles for classes or research. Always check with the Libraries first.
New library catalog! In June, the Libraries transitioned to a new library catalog, as did most of the libraries in the CARLI consortium. If you have not used the new catalog before, I would recommend poking around in it before classes start. I personally think the new catalog is a massive improvement over the old one; its filtered search options are beefy, and searching for journals by title is far more streamlined.

2020.08.20 21:53 locvs Review 552A3 and 507A4

So this was removed from FashionReps for beeing to positive and possibly fake. Well see for yourself. All items paid by myself incl. custom charges on top.
OK then. Just popped my reps cherry willingly and knowingly. Up to date I've only ever gotten reps on ebay, but in person you could always tell.

TLDR upfront:
ORDERING PROCESS: 9,5/10
SHIPPING: 9,5/10
PACKAGING: 10/10
PRODUCTS and QUALITY: 9,5/10
CUSTOMER SERVICE: 10/10
Pics in imgur album. pics unsorted: https://imgur.com/a/XIiBDGY

So a bit of a back story:
Busystone makes SI reps exclusively at a price which is significantly higher than most rep makers. Obviously a different strategy and target group. Can't be compared to the cheap double badge efforts and cheap fakes flooding ebay.
I've been into SI for over a decade now. Owned nearly 50 jackets and probably 40 knits/sweats over the years. Ranging from vintage late 80s and early 90s pieces to current season stuff. Not following the brand that close as I used to - got older, the focus group changed and the a lot of the new designs don't really appeal to me. The price hike didn't helped either. And the gamble that some of SI fabrics are puts me a bit off.
Found out about busy app. 2 weeks ago. Did some research, read reviews, watched vids, visited the store to get a glimpse of the pieces first hand and decided to test the water with a small first purchase. Opted for two knits, since the jacket rail is beyond full (35 pieces) and I mostly wear Belstaff and Matchless nowadays (both on and off the bike).

ORDERING PROCESS: 9,5/10
Well made and easy to navigate website with a few minor spelling errors. Basically your regular online shop. Payment is understandably not as easy as a regular site, but Transferwise is quite simple to use. Stripe or skrill would be e dream.

SHIPPING: 9,5/10
DHL Express is expensive. If You're used to pay pennies and wait for 6 weeks, well... not here. Shipped sunday and arrived today Thursday with a two day delay due to german customs (may thousand fleas feast on their rotting flesh). Room for improvement: Please, do not declare the price paid for the shipping on the packaging list, or declare a lower one. Customs in Germany charge VAT on shipping as well.

PACKAGING: 10/10
Beautiful branded box with logos and magnet closure. Quality. Also branded ziplock bags. Knits neatly folded and placed inside. No need to improve here. Already good enough and any further improvements will be a waste of money.

PRODUCTS and QUALITY: 9,5/10
I shit you not, those will fool 9/10 store clerks selling legit SI. The certilogo obv. doesn't work (to many checks will do that), but the quality and craftsmanship is spot on. Spent almost an hour looking for QC issues, loose threads, misalignments etc. Found one small loose thread and I needed a magnifying glass to do that.
My stats: 188 cm 100 kg (6'2" 220 lbs) I'm into weighlifting and combat sports, so I do pack some muscle on that frame, but I do have a habit of eating more than i need to. No beer gut, but no six pack either. Usually XXL in retail SI, 54 in Belstaff and L in Uniqlo.
The pieces:
552A3 Dark Burgundy 9/10

Wanted to test the water with something SI has been doing for years, so no new fabrics, no crazy treatments. Just a nice plain knit. 80% wool 20% Polyamide in XXL
Measurements:
(COLLAR TO ARM CUFF LENGTH, CHEST1/2, LENGTH)
On the site: 79.5, 58, 70.5
Mine: 79,5, 59, 68 (70) without and with collar
Arm lenght and pit to pit are bang on. The lenght is a bit shorter than i'd like and also unclear if its measured with or without collar. Still it's a a natural Fabric, so it will stretch a bit.
Material: Well it's a bit scratchy. I'm used to softer wool knits. My other SI knits are all pure wool so can't compare. A few loose nylon threads.
Fit: As expected. Maybe a tad short.

Overall really good piece. Craftsmanship is on par with retail. Still my rating is 9/10 due to the material not really pleasing me (not busy's fault, but my taste) and a few minor imperfections with the badge and buttons. Will mention that again at the end as it's concerning both knits.

507A4 Shadow knit 10/10
Have owned a few shadow pieces but moved them on. This really appealed to me, so bagged. 100% cotton in XXL
Measurements:
(SHOULDER, CHEST 1/2, LENGTH, SLEEVES)
busy (43, 59, 75, 69)
me (43,5, 60,5, 75, 69)
No suprises here. Measurements are exact considering it can stretch when measuring pit to pit.
Material: Really nice. Surprised how good the fabric feels. Quality and craftsmanship are top. No isses whatsoever.
Fit: As expected. I don't like knits that fit like a compression shirt.

Overall really impressed. Can't recommend this enough. On sale now so it's a steal. Go for it. You won't regret it.

CONCLUSION
Quality is on par with retail. If you know about SI, then you know their fabrics are not the most durable ones. All raso nad mussola jackets will peel after couple of years. Some ICE jackets crack, reflectives crack and peel. THe Thermoreflective was cracking on the rails in the shop. When talking about quality keep those in mind. No brand is immune to faulty pieces.

Few remarks on the badges and buttons
Since it's a busystone piece one must look with a magnifying glass to find any differences to retail SI.
What I've noticed: The stamping on the retail buttons is a bit deeper and thicker. We're talking 1/100 of a millimetre here, so unless you have two buttons 5 cm from your eyes you won't see it. But here's something busy can work on and improve.

A few reviews have mentioned it: The badges have a slight blueish shading compared to retail. and the material on the back is a bit to tight. Retail has a bit more room between the front and the back fabric. Again this is highest level complaining. Pictured are geniune badges and busy. The one with the bright colours is retail. Bought at Braun Hamburg.

WRAP UP
Well. Couldn't imagine i'd be drooling over a rep piece a few weeks ago, but here we are. Busy is on another level of the rep game. Very little to improve on his side. if the next batch of buttons and badges are better, than without a certilogo old man Rivetti himself will not be able to tell.

2020.08.20 00:02 HWFBeelzeburbia Capture card video shows up, but there is no game audio coming from the capture card!

Hello, everyone. I am at the end of my rope here, and I am growing desperate.
Before I go any further, let me drop some specs: Computer: Dell Inspiron 15-3567 Capture Card: AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus
So, for the past 16-18 hours, I have been trying to fix a problem that wasn't there before I either updated Windows or switched monitors (because I am not really sure as to what caused this anomaly). I was trying to stream Final Fantasy XIII-2 last night through my Xbox One, only to find out that as I was playing, no sound was coming through on my stream. This is particularly odd, because I have never experienced this before.
Since that moment, I have been messing around with OBS' audio settings, as well as a few settings on Windows itself, as well as updating Windows (again) and even updating my LGP2+ through AverMedia's RECentral 4 application. However, both of those efforts led to no improvement, nor solution, to my ever frustrating problem.
Speaking of RECentral 4, it was able to pick up game audio from the capture card, both in Preview Mode and during an actual (test) stream, so it only begs to question why it works for one thing, but fails to work for another (especially seeing how I'd much prefer using OBS than RECentral 4, given how much the latter messes up my computer's ability to function).
I have never seen this before, and I just want to know if there is anything I can do before giving up completely and uninstalling OBS and re-installing it outright.
Below is my log from half an hour ago. Thanks, everyone:

2020.08.19 20:45 B00YouWhore COVID Forum Info + Testing at Lerner Hall Experience

Here's my TL;DW I sent to my homies and what the COVID testing was like for me (did it today) - hope this helps in some way.
If you wanna watch the whole YouTube vid - it was Zoom but then they gave a YouTube link so that's good - here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzY1DW0lRQw
I MAY HAVE MISSED INFO - PLEASE CORRECT ME - AND THIS STUFF IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
In no particular order...
We will get free Columbia face masks (2 in a pack)
Dining will open as usual + Can order dining meals (for those with meal plan) the day before for in-residence delivery if requested
Dodge gym is looking at the new gym guidelines (33% capacity) with intent to open like other gyms across the city.
Libraries (6 of them) will open August 31st - Yes, Butler is one of them. Required that student takes gateway COVID test, sign compact, and have a daily green pass via app.
Study spaces are reserved (by appointment I think)
-So far, Butler stacks will be closed (sad)
-Open 6 days a week. Not for 24 hours but tentatively will open at 8am and work from there
-There’s contactless scanning and book delivery offered on side entrance of Butler
-Printing services will be provided (contactless)
-Columbia COVID testing requirement is not met through outside test results. However the ramp up research test from previous months counts because it was through Columbia (Rationale: Columbia has the best tests - what they said, not me. I don't know crap.)
IMPORTANT:
If compact for social distancing, mask wearing, etc in the signed compact via the REOPENCU app is violated, there will be sanctions. These will escalate with multiple infractions that can result in loss of access to campus or even loss of residential housing.
Friday Sept 4 is the LAST DAY to get your COVID test. Do not wait til the last minute. There may be a crazy influx. There are many many appointments available now.

MY COVID TESTING EXPERIENCE TODAY:
So I made the appointment via covid19.columbia.edu. I scrolled down to 5. Get Tested. Scrolled down to Appointment Scheduling. Clicked on Online Patient Portal. Logged in with UNI and entered date of birth. Clicked Appointments on left hand tab. Bubbled in COVID testing (I picked Lerner) and made appointment (within same hour. So many appointments available atm). They gave me a QR code to show at testing place (Lerner Hall for me).
WHAT IT WAS LIKE:
Went to Lerner and showed lady behind desk my green pass via the ReopenCU app (you get this by clicking you have no symptoms and is super easy to use since it remembers your UNI so login is fast). She asked for the QR code. I showed it and scanned my CUID to enter. Stayed to the right and walked down the ramp where I was directed to a check in station manned by person who scanned the QR and asked for my Date of Birth. Then entered the auditorium and confirmed my DOB again and signed the agreement to be tested. Went to station with lady in full body suit and face shield.
You blow your nose to get it moist (I think that's why).
Discard tissue in trashcan beside you.
Sanitize hands.
Receive a Q-tip and very easily rub it against the inside of your nose (towards face). It goes in only about half an inch and you twist it around a few times. Then you do it with the other nostril and give it back. Sanitize your hands again and you're good to go.
You leave through the side entrance where another person gives you a SPECIAL STICKER to go on the back of your CUID and you get a COLUMBIA FACE MASK. Each pack has 2 with two different designs. One with a Columbia Logo in bottom right corner and the other with the word COLUMBIA in the same spot. They are very cozy and have adjustable straps to fit to your face.
THEY DO NOT WORK WELL IF YOU HAVE GLASSES because there is no wiring to have it conform to your nose. My glasses fogged up immediately but I FIXED IT in under a minute with a small incision to the inside top part of the fabric and fitted a paperclip into the stitching and now it conforms to my face with no fogging. Easy to do.
Hope this helps with any anxiety about the test. No blood. No crazy long Q-tip. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

  12. Anything else you notice: lume maybe a bit yellowish? (see pic 4)
Pulled the trigger on first rep after 1 yr of creeping. Chose Mirotime as TD and have been very pleased with the customer service I have received. Was interested in getting a Super Rep and fell in love with the 300m diver ceramic / titanium. I read (after ordering) that some of the more recently produced VSF 300m’s have had dial printing issues, especially the misaligned text on the top half of the dial. Looks like this one has a bit of that issue. The amplitude of 338° looks quite high, definitely above recommended acceptable amplitude range.
This noob appreciates your thoughts.
Thanks!

2020.08.13 18:25 Aggressive_Lab_46 QC AP RO 15500ST - White Dial - ZF Factory - Mirotime!!

Hi guys, Long time lurker and just decided to gift myself for my birthday and purchase an AP RO 15500ST white dial - ZF Factory from u/mirotime. Just got my QC in and here are my initial thoughts. This is a beautiful piece. My father owns 2 Gen AP's and they are extremely comparable. The tapisserie on the dial looks fantastic. The hour markers look straight and aligned to me (Need other eyes to confirm please)maybe 6 and 9 are off? The date wheel looks good to me as well. The bezel screws kind of look off to me... the 1 and 11 marker screws look off. and the screw by 1 looks like it has a scratch on it? I have messaged u/mirotime on WhatsApp to confirm. Amplitude is at 271 which is acceptable. the beat error is 0.0ms -0.1 ms - great :D. accuracy rate is +13 s/d. What do you guys think? I would love if you guys would be able to give me a second pair of eyes to GL or RL. Overall working with u/Mirotime has been a breeze! could not ask for a better service!

2020.08.10 01:05 That_Vandal_Randall (Long) Looking for different perspectives/advice regarding what seems to be a ghost. She pulled away out of nowhere after finally starting to open up.

I (36m) have been seeing this girl (33f) since around late April or early May. We get along great and the interest is (or at least WAS) mutual. It’s been an adjustment for me since she’s a super independent individual on top of legitimately being ultra busy (first responder), but I think I’ve mostly handled it with grace despite the growing pains.
Our actual dates have been sporadic, thanks in part to her schedule, a vacation she’d planned in advance, and then a covid scare at her work that forced her into isolation. On top of that, she’s an avid climber and spends a lot of free time doing that. I’ve not had much of an issue with having to work around her schedule, as I have my own hobbies/interests and has also honestly been enjoying the space and slower pace, since I’ve had a couple of previous relationships flame out after advancing too quickly. With the exception of her vacation, where we didn’t speak for 8-9 days (no cell service) there have only been several other days where we haven’t spoken over the past few months. It’s different, but like I said I’ve kind of enjoyed the challenge that comes w having to approach someone a bit differently than I’m used to. I’ve even altered my standard approach to text less and make sure there was enough space.
Around three weeks ago, I noticed her starting to open up and flirt a bit more over text than she had in the beginning. She’s generally pretty phone averse, so seeing her initiate more and also do things like emote and send gifs (uncharacteristic for her early on) were encouraging. She admitted a couple of times to having a lot of difficulty w expressing feelings, so I took this as a sign things were headed in a positive direction.
We had a date planned for after she got back from her vacation- a date she set, which was cancelled because of the aforementioned covid scare. Since part of the date involved me cooking her dinner, I decided to do that for her anyways so she’d have food for a few days. This was done w her permission, and not simply me showing up unannounced. When I brought it by her house we spoke at a distance and both admitted to missing the other while she was gone. She gave me butterflies, and I made her blush. She said, unsolicited, that she had thought about me a good amount as well. Texts and contact continued as normal after that, w her expressing a desire to hang out and help me w one of my jobs on a day she was bored and stuck at work.
A week ago, she was supposed to cook for her crew and sent me a text late at night a day or so prior joking that maybe she should make a test batch and feed me for once. The late hour of the text, which was atypical for her, along w her alluding to spending more time together, really made my night. I told her as much the next morning. Though we never actually followed through on that, a couple of days later she sent me a long text saying that her dinner had gone well and that she suspected it was because she’d used leftover ingredients and a recipe I’d left at her house from a previous date. I told her I was proud of her and joked that maybe we should add pre-making ingredients to our list of date ideas. She immediately replied “100%”
The next morning, I sent her a text asking if she’d like to get together that evening and go for a walk and settle down w a movie. She never replied. I didn’t think much of it until I noticed late that night that she’d been watching my IG stories. I wouldn’t say that immediately made me upset, but it was definitely an “ummm, dude” moment. In any case, I let it ride.
By the second day without hearing from her, I sought out some advice from a YouTube channel I’d found in the aftermath of a previous breakup (The Love Chat, a pretty even keel, unisex analysis of dating behaviors, free from any sensationalism or agenda). The video I found centered on how and why people might pull away, listed some reasons, and then followed up by saying “let them have their space”. So I did.
I haven’t made an effort to reach out since, and it’s now been officially a week since I last heard from her, the text where she confirmed a date idea. We don’t know each other backwards and forwards, but I do know she has a history of abusive relationships, difficulty expressing feelings, as well as her fierce independent streak. Coupled w the knowledge that I wished I’d been able to apply some of the ideas from Rory’s YouTube channel DURING my last relationship, I’ve continued to give space.
I don’t know what happened or what IS happening, but all this past week she’s continued to be a presence on my social media. Given her stated desire to not be attached to or stare at her phone for long periods, I know this is intent watching and not simply letting stories play in the background. The vids themselves have been me having fun all week at work (I’m an arborist. I climb trees and play w chainsaws) and out riding my motorcycle, so POSITIVE experiences.)
I’ve considered reaching out but haven’t yet because I honestly don’t know exactly how I’d phrase whatever I decide to say, and feel like that makes it better to say nothing at all for some reason. It doesn’t change the fact that this has hurt and been utterly confusing. While it’s probably appropriate at this point to assume she has ghosted, there is a precedent for us not speaking for extended periods, and that keeps me in an uncomfortable lurch. To make matters more confounding, we each have some of each other’s stuff. I, a book she lent me, and she has an entire collection of my Tupperware from dinner dates we had at her place, as well as a very nice overnight bag I used to haul her quarantine meals in.
As I said, at this point it feels like she’s just vanished, which is incredibly hurtful. I’m still trying to be rational and not jump to any conclusions though. Any input, perspective, or shared experience is welcome.
Thanks for the help, ladies.

Hennessy Rumored to Take Canoo Public - A Possible Leader in the EV Market
EV Startup Canoo Is Said to Be In Talks for Hennessy SPAC Deal
"The special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, is in talks with investors to raise about $300 million in new equity for the deal, which would take Canoo public and value the combined entity at more than $2 billion, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private. "
Who is Canoo:
“Canoo is a Los Angeles based company creating and offering unique electric vehicles (EV) for subscription only and is designed for a world in which transportation is becoming increasingly electric, shared and autonomous.
A new business model that focuses on reducing production and infrastructure costs to make EVs more affordable to customers. The model wil will likely include perks like automatic vehicle registration, maintenance, insurance management and charging through a single app on a customer’s phone.”

First Design Prototype

Sustainable Competitive Advantages:
  • Skateboard design allows them to develop near infinite products and tap markets
    • Delivery/transort market, taxi/uber, #vanlife, near infinite potentials
  • Membership only program which will lower user cost and improve the bottom line
  • Leadership has strong connections along the value chain
  • Partnerships that legitimize and grow the business

Other Highlights:
  • 2021 Launch
  • Targeting only key cities (throughout US/China) that represent a majority of the EV market
  • High-tech with level 2.5 Autonomy
  • Steer-by-wheel
  • 7 Seat interior, 250 Miles on full charge, 125 MPH top speed
  • Reached Beta testing phase within 19 months of inception
  • 300+ employees and hiring more

Subscription Model:
A membership model that puts an end to ownership, providing a hassle - and commitment-free EV subscription for one monthly, affordable price and with no set end date. The subscription may include services such as registration, maintenance, insurance management and charging—all from a single app … providing consumers with the convenience and value they deserve.
Canoo frees its members from the hassle and commitment of car ownership, saves them time and enables a more efficient way to use a car. By providing an attractive EV at an affordable price via its membership model, Canoo can reduce carbon emissions and increase the usage of cars.

Skateboard Platform:
Canoo is developing a “skateboard” architecture, which will house a battery and electric drivetrain that can achieve up to 300 miles of range. All of Canoo’s vehicles will share the same underpinning. Different cabins or “top hats” will be married on top to create the four unique vehicles. Leveraging the same fixed and flat skateboard allows for reduced R&D costs, efficient production and a better use of interior space. The skateboard houses the most expensive components of the vehicle and is designed in a way that most crash testing does not need to be repeated per vehicle, reducing the vehicle’s development cycle timeline and costs.
The propriety skateboard platform houses the battery and electrical management systems, HVAC systems, drive machines, crash support, and suspension components.

The Skateboard
Potential Skateboard Uses

Design :
An Urban Loft on Wheels” - Think VW 60's Bus on Acid

Partnership with Hyundai/Kia:
Hyundai Motor Group recently said it plans to invest $87 billion in future growth over the next five years, including $52 billion in future technologies for the Hyundai brand**, $25 billion in electrification and future mobility for Kia,** $4 billion joint-venture with Aptiv to speed development of self-driving vehicle technology, a 100 million-euro investment in Arrival, an air-taxi tie-up with Uber and a $6.7 billion push to commercialize clean hydrogen technology to power trucks, cars and ships.
By 2025, Hyundai-Kia hopes eco-friendly vehicles, including EVs, will account for 25 percent of its total sales.
Hyundai says it’s got plans to create a variety of purpose-built vehicles that could come from Canoo’s skateboard.”

Partnership with Nvidia:
“The NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform provides high-performance, energy-efficient compute for object detection and sensor fusion. State-of-the-art algorithms will inform the driver on what’s around the vehicle, including cross-traffic alerts, blind spot detection and pedestrian detection, as well as convenience features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-centering control. The software-defined platform also allows for more advanced features, like auto lane change, traffic light recognition and evasive steering to be introduced when they become available.”
Partnership with Blackberry:
“BlackBerry and electric vehicle startup Canoo announced the ADAS systems for the company’s membership-based semi-autonomous EVs will be powered by the BlackBerry QNX operating system (OS), including radar sensors, parking sensors and cameras.
Canoo aims to bring its first production vehicles to market with advanced level 2 (or level 2.5) autonomous features as standard at the end of 2021. Level 2.5 features are consistent with partial autonomy, enabling the vehicle to manage acceleration and steering and monitor components of its environment in certain conditions.”
Partnership with ArcelorMittal:
“The high level of advanced steels in this vehicle demonstrates steel’s many advantages, which also relate to its versatility, recyclability and its contribution to global green-house gas reduction. In these areas, steel outperforms other materials used in the automotive marketplace. ArcelorMittal is the the world's leading steel and mining company with large market share the auto sector.”
China Connections:
“Canoo is backed by David Stern, a director at Prince Andrew’s startup incubator, and Pak Tam Li, the head of a massive investment firm in China and the son-in-law of a man who was once the fourth-most senior leader in China. Canoo has also received support from Taiwanese touchscreen supplier TPK, which is run by billionaire Michael Chiang, two people with knowledge of the company’s finances tell The Verge. In fact, Canoo’s headquarters in Torrance, California is owned by a shell company set up by Foster Chiang, TPK’s vice chairman, according to property records.”

Product Roll Out:
- “We will roll out city-by-city,” he says. “Eight to 10 cities represent more than 70% of all the electric vehicle population [so] there is no need to provide our EV nationwide.”
- The plan for 2021 is to launch in Los Angeles and have another eight cities account for the company’s U.S. market. That means four on the West Coast and four on the East Coast, according to Kranz.
- “After the launch in the U.S. we are considering launching the vehicle in China… There are 18 cities that represent 75% of the EV population in China,” he said.

Canoo's First Design Prototype

Canoo’s vehicles will move away from traditional three box car design, which have separate compartments for the engine, passengers and luggage. Instead, the Company is embracing a minimalist design that maximizes interior space

Partnership with Hyundai/Kia:
Hyundai Motor Group recently said it plans to invest $87 billion in future growth over the next five years, including $52 billion in future technologies for the Hyundai brand, $25 billion in electrification and future mobility for Kia, $4 billion joint-venture with Aptiv to speed development of self-driving vehicle technology, a 100 million-euro investment in Arrival, an air-taxi tie-up with Uber and a $6.7 billion push to commercialize clean hydrogen technology to power trucks, cars and ships.

Competition:
VW, Rivian, GM, Toyota, NIO, Xpeng, Weltmeister, BYTON, AIWAYS, Arrival and Lucid Motors among others. As you can see the market is being saturated with major and lesser players battling for position.

Market Data:

EU as an Example
Global
US
“The global autonomous vehicle market is expected to reach nearly $600 billion by 2026.
I could go deeper in market research but it's late and I have covered the market more lightly in previous write ups: https://www.reddit.com/SPACs/comments/i1f21b/cant_have_evs_without_the_ev_infrastructure/ https://www.reddit.com/SPACfeed/comments/hw2439/soac_and_the_esg_spac_etf/
The EV market isn't going anywhere and its set for significant CARG over the next decade while key players battle for market position/share.
It will be supported through gov subsidies and major organizations transitioning to EV for example: Kyoto Protocol/The Moving Forward Act, USPS EV Contract, Amazon, Walmart Fedex etc going electric.

Risks:
  • Terms of a deal haven’t been finalized and the talks could still fall apart
  • Maybe the market responds negatively at "just another EV SPAC" announcement?
  • Sector tailwinds could cool off leaving Canoo/HCAC in the dust
  • Maybe the market was expecting Proterra and will react poorly? Unlikely

Final Thoughts:
  • A forward looking company with 10,000 pre orders, strong leadership looking and balance sheet synergies set for high growth in key EV markets of US and (hopefully) China.
  • Canoo is set to become a top contender in the EV market for years to come thanks to their membership program, key strategic partnerships, skateboard/IP and first to market advantage despite EV SPAC market saturation.
  • Sector tailwinds and ability to partner with (more) major players in the automotive, delivery/transport/taxi, software, battery and other technology sectors will further support and substantiate Canoo’s growth/market cap potential.
  • Company has/will have direct ties to Uber, Tesla, Fisker, China, BMW, NASA, Blackrock, Nomera, Faraday Future, Hyundai, Kia, Nvidia, Blackberry among others plus more TBA
  • Canoo > Proterra
  • 2b valuation likely puts this just out of reach without a TBA PIPE (maybe this is why HCAC LOI taking time to come to fruition).

Disclaimer: I am long HCAC
TLDR: HCAC is rumored to be merging with Canoo – a company with potential to become a market leader in the EV world

2020.08.05 23:14 iamthemagician facebook live streaming

I'm new to OBS and I've been trying to figure out how to stream with it on facebook live. I tried changing some settings (output video bitrate 4000 kbps, 128 audio; video base resolution 1280x720) and even have a wired internet connection, but facebook keeps saying "live video interrupted" after many periods of buffering. This is in the preview before I even attempt to go live, although the problem persists when I do go live as well.
ETA: this is my log file from today:
